C’garh Legislative Assembly conducts orientation programme for newly-elected Legislators

The two days orientation programme being held for the newly elected Legislators, who’re elected to Fifth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, commenced from today.
The orientation programme was inaugurated by Narmada Prasad Prajapati, Speaker, Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Present on the occasion were Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ravindra Chaubey, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Rajgopal P V Founder of Ekta Parishad, all Legislators, Principal Secretary MP Legislative Assembly A P Singh and Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Secretary Chandra Shekhar Gangrade.


Speaking on the occasion Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant said there is no age-limit for gaining knowledge, training and education. He said knowledge gained in any field from knowledgeable persons is worth following. He said the dignity of the House depends on the work culture, demeanor and parliamentary etiquette of the Members hence it is necessary that the Members should maintain their etiquettes in the House. He said the Members were elected by the people with certain aspirations and expectations and they should ensure that they fulfill those aspirations. He said it is very necessary that every Member should not only maintain the trust people have on him/her but at the same should also follow the parliamentary traditions and procedures as it is their foremost responsibility.


Madhya Pradesh Speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati based his lecture on the subject which evolves from any question during Question Hour. He said he was elected to MP Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1985, at that time stalwarts like Arjun Singh, Kailash Joshi, Vikram Verma, Babulal Gaur were in the House and he was lucky enough to learn many things from their experiences. He said the media portrays every Member’s conduct in the House, before the people. He said it is unfortunate that nowadays seriousness and etiquettes are slowly but gradually vanishing from our parliamentary system and stressed to have control on the language used in the House, so much so that, it doesn’t hurt any other Member.


On the occasion the MP Assembly Speaker shared significant information on his subject. He said formatting a question for the Question Hour is a significant art and in order to understand the same every new Member should attend every House proceeding as this knowledge comes from experience only.


Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik in his address said such orientation programmes will help in the improvement of Members’ works, behaviour, proficiency and sharpness. He said all Members’ focus should be on prosperity of state and its people and they should work in this direction and respect the emotions and aspirations of people.


Earlier, in his welcome speech Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Secretary Chandra Shekhar Gangrade said the main objective of this orientation programme to get the newly elected Legislators acquainted with primary information about parliamentary subjects and vocabulary, so that the Members can participate in House proceedings while following the parliamentary traditions and procedures.


In the second session, Founder of Ekta Parishad Rajgopal P V shared his views on subject ‘Role and Responsibility of Legislators on Rural Development’.
