Mohd Sageer attacked while trying to resolve dispute at Kaliyasot dam

Leader of Opposition in Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mohammad Sageer was attacked with a stone and left critically injured by three persons, including a fish contractor, while he was trying to sort out an altercation between two groups over lease of fishing at Kaliyasot dam on Saturday afternoon.


A complaint was later lodged with Kamla Nagar police whereas later fish contractor was also thrashed and stabbed near D-Mart in Jehangirabad area in evening and he was also rushed to a private hospital. The fish contractor was called here by a man posing self as journalist on phone wishing to take his bite for a news channel.


According to investigation officer Sub-Inspector Deviram Amb, accused Subhash Raikwar is a fishing contractor and has lease of fishing in some part of Kaliyasot dam which is under possession of Bhopal Municipal Corporation.
The dispute is related to the ownership on a portion of Kaliyasot dam for fishing, and the other party that owns it pelted a stone on BMC leader as he was trying to intervene into the  matter as another party was forcing them to give up their ownership. The ownership was given to one Subash Raikwar by the BMC and an order was issued against it. The ownership was to be withdrawn owing to some legal formalities, but Raikwar went to the court.


A hearing was to be held on Monday. However, Raikwar told that at around 1:30 pm, Sageer and his men, including Jugnu and Akbar Khan, arrived and wanted them to evacuate the land after which the dispute broke out.
Later, after a heated argument one of them threw a stone targeting him and he was then taken to hospital for treatment and an FIR was registered against them under sections 294, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC at Kamla Nagar police station. According to SHO of Kamla Nagar, Madan Mohan Malviya two groups were having serious arguments over ownership of the land when one of the groups led by the accused Raikwar’s aides, including Devmani Singh and Lateef, pelted stone at the Leader of Opposition Sageer.


He sustained head injury in the incident and was taken to a private hospital. Sageer on the other hand said that he had only gone to talk to them as Raikwar had taken away the fishing instruments of some of the boys. I knew those boys and they requested me to ask Raikwar to return their fishing instruments and as I went there to take the instruments, they pelted stone after some heated argument but there was nothing serious, he said. Later Subhash, who was standing near D-Mart in Jehangirabad, was also beaten up and stabbed by a few persons on Saturday evening and he was also admitted to Chirayu Hospital. Notably, Subhash is said to be a supporter of MP Alok Sanjar and had also contested as corporator on BJP ticket in last civic body elections but lost the election.
