‘A child must enjoy happiness along the journey of life, not towards the end of it’

“For being successful in life, happiness is needed. All parents want their child to be happy in life. Success actually means to live happily. For Ultimate success in life, happiness is derived along life’s journey and not towards the end of it,” remarked Sudhakar Telang, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Divisional Commissioner’s office, while addressing the gathering towards the end of their performances on the concluding day of the two-day celebrations of Kalasrjan Academy of Indian Classical Music, Dance and Fine Arts’s 11th annual day celebrations , held at the Bhagwandas Purohit Auditorium , Bhavans BP Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines Nagpur.


Telang was earlier welcomed and felicitated at the hands of Secretary Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra Dr Sunanda Sonarikar with a shawl, shrifal and a bouquet.
Present on the dais were Gurus Dr Chitra Modak and Malini Menon; Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra - A Shastri; Executive Committee members of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra - Prof Q H Jeevaji and Padmini Jog; Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra - Sunanda Sonarikar; Treasurer - K M Agrawal and Director of Kalasrjan Srimathy Madkholkar.


It may be mentioned here, that on Saturday, during the felicitation of Kathak Guru Lalita Hardas, Executive Committee Member Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra Jimmy Rana was prominently present on Stage.


Dr Sunanda Sonarikar, Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra, while presiding over on Sunday, congratulated the performers saying they were commendable. She pointed out that the presentations of budding artists showed the amount of hard work that has been put in by the teachers and their director to gain perfection. “It gives immense pleasure to see tiny tots blossoming in this field”, she mentioned.


The programme commenced on Sunday with the lighting of the lamp at the hands of invitees and Chief Guest followed by vocal recital by students of Kalasrjan in the learning period of 1 to 5 years. All the budding vocalist were disciple of Dr Chitra Modak Ajit Padhye and Neerja Wagh. They presented “Raga Durga” Sargam geet, “Raga Kafi” Lakshan Geet, Raga Bhimpalasi Chota Khayal, “Raga Yaman” Bada Khayal and Chhota Khayal concluding with “Raga Malkauns” Sargam, Chota Khayal and  “Raga Bihag”.


This was followed by Tabla recital presented by budding “Ustads”, who performed Teen taal, laced with Kayade, Rela, Tukde. Guru Vedant Mandavgane played the Lehra on Harmonium. The young Ustads showed confidence in handling the percussion instruments deftly. They are being trained under the watchful eye of Vedant Mandavgane and Anand Fadnavis.


Then came the young charming ladies in their colourful attire to present Bharatnatyam dances. The troupe presented “Pushpanjali”, followed by “Ganesh Stuti, Alaripu, Shankar Shri Kriti,Tillana”. Their dance was truly mesmerising and the piece de resistance was the “Shankar Shri Kriti”.Superb footwork and swift body language marked their phrases of movement, as they danced their way to glory, getting a huge applause from the crowd.
Students of Kalasrjan, who have cleared various examinations in Classical, instrument and dance were awarded certificates at the hands of the dignitaries on  the dais.


Prajesh Nair on mridangam, Shanmukh Sunderam Vocalist, Kumar Krishnan on flute and Srimathy Madkholkar on Natuvangam provided accompaniment. Dr Bindu Chimote did a fine job in conducting the proceedings.
