JMC continues drive on Madan Mahal hills

Despite holiday, the district administration along with Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) continued the drive to remove permanent structures situated on Madan Mahal hills, on Sunday. The administration conducted drive in area behind Tripuri overhead tank and razed a dozen houses. The administration also provided land allotment slip to a number of people who were removed from the area. It has also marked 78 new structures situated in the locality. The anti-encroachment squad of JMC would raze these structures on Monday.

Meanwhile, the oustees have expressed ire over allotment of same size plot to big families also. Members of concerned families met with Gorakhpur SDM, Manisha Baskle and submitted written applications. They urged the district administration to provide extra land to the families having more members.

It may be noted after fresh directions from the High Court, the district administration has expedited the joint drive to make Madan Mahal hills encroachment free. It is conducting the drive on Sundays and other holidays also. The Court has clearly asked the concerned authorities to deal sternly with encroachments situated on the hills. The court said as Madan Mahal hills come under green belt hence no commercial or residential structures are allowed on the hills. The encroachments pose thereat to conservation of historic and natural structures situated on the hills.

Therefore, the court has directed the administration to continue the drive and raze structures situated on any part of the hills. Accordingly, the district administration and JMC is carrying out the drive and razing maximum structures regularly. So far the anti-encroachment squad with the help of big machineries has razed over 1500 dwellings situated on hills.On Sunday, the squad conducted drive in area behind Tripuri overhead tank and dismantled as many as 12 permanent structures including 5 pucca and 7 kutcha houses. The administration and JMC allotted land allotment slip to 72 people and marked 78 near structures situated in the area.

Senior officials informed that the anti-encroachment squad would commence the drive to raze these houses from 10 am, on Monday. Meanwhile, the administration has asked concerned families to remove household goods if still keep inside the marked dwellings.

Amongst the officials present during the drive were SDM Gorakhpur, Manisha Baskle, Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Ayachi, Team Incharge, Narendra Rajput, Laxman Kori, Mukesh Paras and other members.
