Bilaspur team win Inter-District Disabled Cricket Tourney

Bilaspur team emerged winner of the Chhattisgarh State Inter District Disabled Cricket Tournament, which concluded here at Viklang Ground, Indira Palace, Bhilai on Sunday. Eminent social activist and President of the State Arm Wrestling Association, G Suresh (Babe) graced the occasion as chief gusts and Resident Editor of The Hitavada, EV Murli presided over the concluding and prize distribution ceremony. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Vinod Mishra, Litterateur, Suman Kannouje, Raghavendra, Dr Pramod Sharma, President of Chhattisgarh Disabled Cricket Association, Arun Kumar Shrivastava and others. The tourney was organized under the joint auspices of All India Association for Physically Challenged Person and Chhattisgarh Disabled Cricket Association.

Speaking on the occasion G Suresh said that, the disabled face struggle at every phase of their life and it is the foremost duty of all to support them. He said that even with disability these divyangs played a better game. Assuring his support for promoting the game G Suresh urged the people to come in supporting activities in the state for carving out a healthy society. E V Murli, in his address said that the handicap is a mind set and these divyangs played the game of cricket as if they are normal human beings. He said that there is a need to promote such events for promoting a sports culture in the country.

At the outset, Durg team won the toss and elected to bat first. In the final match, Srimant Jha scored maximum 38 for Durg team while Harsh and Rajat each have contributed 13 runs and 11 runs respectively. In reply, the contribution of 29 runs by Santosh and 14 runs each by Kishan Yadav and Pradeep from Bilaspur team ensured victory for the team by 4 wickets.

The award for man of the series went to Harsh Khediyar.
Earlier, in the first league match, Durg team managed to score a total of 82 runs against Rajnandgaon, in which Harsh scored maximum 15 runs for Durg. In reply, Rajnandgaon failed to chase the target of 83 runs and managed to score only 67 runs. Similarly, in the second match, Bilaspur defeated Mahasamund by the score of 32 runs and Mahsamund defeated Dryg team by the score of 10 runs in the third match of day. Four teams including Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur, Mahasamund and Durg participated in the tournament. The tourney was organized under the supervision of President of Chhattisgarh Disabled Cricket Association, Arun Kumar Shrivastava.
