30th Road Safety Week begins

On the direction of the Union Road Transportation and National Highways Ministry New Delhi, Raipur Police launched the 30th Road Safety Week on Monday.
The Road Safety Week was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Divisional Commissioner Govind Ram Churendra, Inspector General of Police Raipur Range Anand Chhabra, Collector Basavraju S and Superintendent of Police (SP) Neethu Kamal at Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) garden.
An exhibition on traffic system has also been organised by Traffic Police, Surakshit Bhav Foundation, Helping Hand Foundation, ITI Mana, Raipur Auto Dealer Association, and Sky Automobiles. IG Anand Chhabra applauded the models put in display at the exhibit by Traffic Police Department and congratulated other organisations for the participation.


The guests also released a book and CD on Traffic Guidelines authored by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Thakur. The Books and CD contains complete information about the traffic rules and regulations. IG Chhabra praised the DSP for his work.


Thereafter, a car/bike rally to create awareness regarding seatbelt/helmet was taken out by Traffic Police, Maruti Sky Automobiles and Raipur Automobile Dealers’ Association through the main thoroughfares of the city. During the rally, they requested people for wearing helmet and put on seatbelt while driving.


Krishna Public School (KPS) and Delhi Public School (DPS) students learned the traffic rules as they visited the exhibition. Traffic Police Department will bring in students of different schools everyday to visit the exhibition and educate them about the dos and don’ts while driving the vehicles. Department will also hold street plays to send the message of traffic safety. Traffic Trainer TK Bhoi and street play Lok Kala Manch ‘Mor Pirohil’ will also  visit the surrounding villages  to spread information  among villagers.
