Serial killer sent to judicial remand

Serial killer Arun Chandrakar, who had escaped police custody in May last year and was subsequently arrested by the Raipur Police on Monday evening, produced before the Durg Court from where he was sent to jail on judicial remand.  Sources confirmed that after completion of legal formalities and receipt of the Jail warrant, Arun will be shifted to Central Jail, Raipur where he was serving life imprisonment on charges of murders.

It is worth mentioning that Arun Chandrakar alias Toran, a resident of village Kachandur, Durg had escaped while in the month of May last year while he was being brought to Durg for a court hearing. Arun was brought to Durg court in transit remand from Raipur Central jail, where he was undergoing imprisonment for murdering 7 persons including his wife, father and others. Finally after nine months, the Raipur Police had on Sunday arrested Arun from Raipur after he arrived to participate in birthday celebrations on her daughter.

Meanwhile on Monday, Arun was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Smita Ratnawat from where he was sent to jail on judicial remand. Kotwali Police reportedly filed an application in the court informing it about previous convictions of Arun in murder cases. Reliable sources informed that legal formalities will soon be completed to shift Arun Chandrakar to Raipur Central Jail.
