A mother and her daughter met a tragic end when the motorcycle they were riding on swept away by a speeding truck near Vyas Talab. Deceased woman’s brother, who was driving the bike, sustained critical injury.
According to the police, deceased woman identified as Jamuna Verma (70), her daughter Rajkumari Verma and Brother Dinesh Verma were going from village Bhorbhatti to their Bhanpuri located home, when a speeding truck rammed them with full intensity near Vyastalab. Impact of the hit sent the women flying into the air and then crashing down on hard tarmac of road. Both the woman and her daughter died on the spot owing to the serious injuries whereas Dinesh rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver immediately fled after abandoning his truck on the spot. As the crowd gathered around the dead bodies, atmosphere became tense when the mob vandalised the truck and attempt to arson it.
However, the Khamtarai Police reached in nick of time and impounded the truck. Both the dead bodies were sent for post-mortem even as a case was registered against unidentified truck driver at the Khamtarai Police Station. It’s noteworthy that these deaths have come at a time when the Traffic Police is observing the Traffic Safety Week while the ground reality suggest that it couldn’t yet enforce basic traffic rules such as prohibiting tripling on a two-wheeler, curb
over-speeding or even identifying the accident prone zones and fixing the problem.
