PM Narendra Modi to address public rally in Raigarh today

The rally is being seen as poll bugle ahead of Lok Sabha elections in the state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally at Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh on Friday. Prior to this, Prime Minister will have a brief halt at Raipur Airport.
As per schedule, the Prime Minister will be addressing the rally at Kodatarai in Raigarh district at 1130 am on Friday. This visit of the Prime Minister is being seen as poll bigul for the Lok Sabha in the state.

Meanwhile, as per the tentative schedule available, Prime Minister will fly from Delhi by an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft on Friday morning and arrive to Raipur Airport at 1005 hours. After a momentary halt, Modi will fly to Raigarh by an IAF Mi8/17 chopper and land at Raigarh Helipad after one hour and 10 minutes. Hereafter, the Prime Minister along with his motorcade will take the road route to reach the venue of public meeting at 1130 hours. Around half hour later, the Prime Minister will return back to Raigarh helipad from where he will fly for Raipur Airport by the IAF helicopter. From here, Modi will board the IAF aircraft at around 1335 hours to fly back to Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit is leaving no stone unturned to make the rally a big success, especially after the BJP was made to bite the dust in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections 2019. According to the party state organisation, people of the state were eagerly awaiting to hear the Prime Minister.

The meeting of the Prime Minister will be made live on bjp4india Facebook page. Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP National Vice President Dr Raman Singh, Union minister of state Vishnudev Sai, Rajya Sabha Member Ramvichar Netam, Rampratap Singh, former cabinet minister Amar Agrawal, Bhupendra Savanni, Yudhhveer Singh Judeo and O P Choudhary are closely monitoring the arrangements for the rally.

Coming to the security arrangements, Director General of Police D M Awasthi along with his team was camping in Raigarh. Leave of the senior police officials and security personnel was cancelled keeping in mind two major events happening on Friday – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Raigarh visit and presentation of state budget by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Chhattisgarh Assembly.
Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) team also arrived well in advance in Raipur to assess the security arrangements ahead of Prime Minister public meeting in Raigarh.


Baghel requests PM to postpone visit to Raigarh

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to postpone the date of his visit to Raigarh in Chhattisgarh. The Prime Minister is visiting Chhattisgarh on February 8. The Chief Minister has requested him a postponement of the visit, owing to budget presentation in the assembly on February 8. The Chief Minister wrote that it is his desire to be present personally to welcome the Prime Minister during his visit to Chhattisgarh. However the budget session of the Chhattisgarh assembly is beginning on 8 Feb and he as Minister holding the portfolio of finance has to present the budget in the House.  The Chief Minister wrote that since the date of the visit of the Prime Minister clash with the budget presentation, the Chief Minister has expressed his practical difficulty to be present to welcome the Prime Minister and has further urged him to postpone the date of his visit to the state.
