MIDC Industries Association (MIA) celebrated its 34th Foundation Day recently at MIA House, Hingna. The more than three decades old institution was formed to look into the welfare of the local industries. It is also involved in building new infra structure like sophisticated material testing lab, fully equipped guest house, conference hall.

Continuing its legacy of celebrating this day every year, the programme was graced by Lt. Gen. Ravi Thodge (Retd), a decorated officer who has been awarded with PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM. He presided over as the chief guest and the guest of honour was Jagdish Sangitrao, Regional Officer (RO) of MIDC, Nagpur. The function was organised under the guidance of Capt C M Randhir, President of MIA, and C G Shegoankar, Secretary.

On the Foundation Day, MIA felicitates and recognises the out-standing performance of industrialists by giving them with ‘Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.’ The awards were distributed by the hands of the chief guest to Vijayshri Khanorkar, founder of Vaipani Herbals, Hemant Bhave, founder of Bhagyashree Home Appliance (P) Ltd and to Shree Jamdar , partner of Kinetic Gears.

Lt.Gen.Thodge was very impressed with the achievement of the awardees and congratulated them. In his address, he pointed out that industries in other Tier-2 cities such as Nashik, Aurangabad etc., have done very well as compared to Vidarbha. “Nagpur is a little late to wake up” he said who also head as Chairman of Vidarbha Defence Industrial Hub, a body created to promote Defence and Aerospace sectors in Vidarbha. Mincing no words, he said that people of Vidarbha lacked the attitude when it comes to entrepreneurial spirit.

He stressed that entrepreneurs should have passion in heart and fire in belly to succeed. He also stressed that VDIH under his leadership acts like facilitators for the benefit of local industrialists. Sangitrao in his address assured all support to local industrialists from MIDC in getting lands and required sanctions.

At the outset, Capt. C M Randhir in his speech showed many difficulties being faced by the industrialists such as demonetisation, GST implementation, power factor incentive withdrawal etc. C G Shegaonkar in his speech listed out the history of MIA and its role in the industrial fraternity.

MIDC Industries Association has formed Industry Institute Interaction Cell (III Cell) which is working in close interaction with local engineering colleges for training students.

On the occasion of Foundation Day, all the past presidents were also felicitated. The programme was presided over by the Master of Ceremony, Sachin Jain and the vote of thanks were given away by Arun Lanjewar.
