A tiger cub found dead in North Salama beat of East Pench Forest Range, Pench Tiger Reserve, on Saturday.

A tiger cub approximately 4-5 months old was found dead in compartment no: 538 in North Salama beat of East Pench Range of Pench tiger Reserve on Saturday. The carcass is two days old and all the body parts are found to be intact. A beat guard was on his regular patrolling in Salama area when he noticed carcass of the tiger cub lying in jungle. He informed higher officers about the incident.
The post mortem will be conducted by a team of veterinarians, including Dr Chetan Patond, Pench Tiger Conservation Foundation, Dr Sayyad Billal of Transit Treatment Centre, Seminary Hills, and Dr Dipika Mankar, Livestock Development Officer, Deolapar, on Sunday morning.
Indraneel, Researcher of Wildlife Institute of India, as representative of National Tiger Conservation Authority; Dilip Lanjewar, as representative of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Maharashtra, as the NTCA SOP; Dnyaneshwar Dhoke, Honorary Wildlife Warden, were present. Forest officials are carrying out site investigation as per the SOP. Exact cause of the death would be known after post mortem, informed Ravikiran Gowekar, Field Director, Pench Tiger Reserve.
