The roads in the State Capital wore a deserted look on Sunday owing to a day-long lockdown imposed in the wake of increasing cases of Covid-19 in the city. However, the lockdown imposed this Sunday was a little relaxed than the previous one as more traffic was witnessed on roads. On Saturday, Bhopal Collector Avinash Lavania had revised his orders under Section-144 and had allowed the beneficiaries of Covid-19 vaccination programme to come out of their house for vaccination. Barricading was done at around 120 different places, and nearly 2,500 cops were deployed across the state capital. Medical stores and a handful of petrol pumps were open in the city and not even Sanchi Parlours were allowed to open on Sunday.

 

Only the students appearing for entrance examinations, passengers and those involved in essential services were allowed to move during the lockdown. Notably, a complete shutdown was ordered in Bhopal along with Jabalpur and Indore on Sunday. Bhopal Collector Avinash Lavaniya has said that a lockdown shall remain imposed in Bhopal every Sunday, in addition to a night curfew already being observed here. Due to the lockdown, the kiosks selling packaged milk remained closed and only the local vendors were allowed make home delivery of milk till 10 am. However, chemist shops and hospitals were open. SHO, Hanumanganj, Mahendra Singh Thakur said that a case has been registered against main accused Zaheeer aka Adnan Ramzani, Imran Dani, Sameer, Imran, Sajid, Salman, Savez, Ayub, Kallu, Nusrat, Uzma and Shahnoor.

 

“Among all the accused five are habitual offenders,” Thakur added, saying that four accused are still on a run, while rest accused have been arrested. Besides, the family of tea stall owner also released a video, in which a woman and a girl are seen crying. The woman shows a bruise on her neck while the girl shows an injury on her leg, which the family claims was done by cops during the action.
