In a decisive move against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has issued lookout notices for several key traffickers, amid fears that they may attempt to flee the country. This action follows the recent seizure of drugs worth Rs 1,800 crore in Bhopal, which has intensified the urgency for law enforcement agencies to dismantle this expansive illegal operation.
Notably, the situation escalated after authorities discovered a drug factory in the Bagroda industrial area of Katara Hills, where the Gujarat ATS and Delhi NCB conducted a raid on October 5. During this operation, they seized MD drugs valued at Rs 1,814 crore, along with significant quantities of raw material used in drug production. Three suspects, Amit Chaturvedi from Bhopal, Sanyal Bane from Nashik, and Harish Anjana from Mandsaur were arrested during the raid. Following their capture, it appears that key figures in the trafficking network have gone underground to evade authorities.
Harish Anjana is believed to have played a critical role in the distribution of over 200 kilograms of MD drugs, connecting Bhopal to Mandsaur through his network.
Investigators are particularly focused on Shoaib Lala from Rajasthan, who remains at large. As investigations unfurl, sources reveal that many involved in the trafficking have switched off their phones to avoid detection, complicating the pursuit of additional suspects.
The NCB and ATS have launched co-ordinated efforts to interrogate the arrested suspects, leading to the identification of approximately 90 other traffickers nationwide. In response, all major airports and ports have been placed on high alert, with agencies instructed to monitor for suspicious activities related to these individuals.
To prevent these traffickers from escaping, dedicated teams have been formed to track them down, and lookout notices have been
distributed across the country. Authorities are maintaining close surveillance on both air and sea routes to ensure that no one involved in this drug operation can leave India.
Current reports suggest that those arrested thus far are relatively minor players in the trafficking network, with efforts now focused on capturing larger, more influential traffickers. The overarching goal remains to dismantle this extensive drug trafficking operation and hold all responsible parties accountable. As investigations continue, agencies are determined to tighten their grip on drug trafficking in India, ensuring that those involved cannot evade the law.
The recent drug seizure in Bhopal, which involved a large quantity of narcotics valued at Rs 1,800 crore, underscores the gravity of the situation. This operation, which was a collaborative effort involving the Gujarat ATS and the Delhi NCB, is seen as a pivotal moment in the fight against drug trafficking in India.
As investigations continue and more information comes to light, authorities remain committed to dismantling these trafficking networks and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice. The focus now shifts to tracking down Shoaib Lala and others involved, as the crackdown on this widespread and dangerous trade intensifies.
