CSPGCL sees decline in production in first half

Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) has seen a decline in production in the first half of the current financial year. As per the information received, the plants of the company generated 9181.82 million units of electricity against the target of 10,289 million units. In the same period of 2023-24, the production was 10311.58 million units. Similarly, the Plant Load Factor (PLF) during the first half year was 73.61 per cent, while the target was set at 82.49 per cent. The performance of the power plants in Chhattisgarh during 2023-24 was mixed. While the overall Plant Load Factor (PLF) was 82.67%, the three power plants in the power capital performed poorly. In contrast, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Power Plant (Madwa) in Janjgir Champa district showed comparatively better performance. DSPM plant with 500MW production capacity, produced 1756.53 million units of electricity in the first half. Whereas its target was 1768 million units. In the corresponding period in the year 2023-24, 2018.93 million units of electricity were produced.
 
The PLF of the plant was also 79.99 per cent against the target of 80.51 percent that was 91.94 per cent PLF in the same period last year. Similarly, the 1340 MW HTPP was to produce 5031 million units of electricity, but only 3866.71 million units of electricity was produced. In the same period last year, 4625.22 million units were produced. The Madwa plant of the company has a capacity of 1000 MW. This plant generated 3558.58 million units of electricity in the first half instead of 3490 million units, which was more than the target. Last year, 3667.38 million units of electricity was generated in the same period. The PLF of the plant stood at 81.02 per cent, which is 79.46 per cent more than the target. Last year the PLF was 83.50 per cent.
