Bhopal Police raid godown, seize raw material worth Rs 60 lakh used for MD drug

In an another development with regard to NCB and Gujarat ATS’ high-stakes raid on October 5, Bhopal Police raided other establishment of accused Amit Chaturvedi on Tuesday and seized material used to prepare MD drug. The estimated value of substance is around Rs 60 lakh, according to the police. Acting on tip-off, Misrod and Katara Police took action jointly. A shop number 6 situated in Ganesh Market was raided by Katara police personnel. It was found that banned substance were stored in large trunks in huge quantity there. As per information, the estimated value of this raw material in the local market is approximately Rs 60 lakh and if processed into drugs, its market value could soar to around Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore. Notably, the same chemicals were also found at the factory raided by the NCB and Gujarat ATS on October 5. The investigations revealed that the accused Amit Chaturvedi took the said warehouse on rent from Vishnu Patidar located near Shubham Warehouse at Ganesh Market, Shop Number 6, Rappadiya Chowk. Chaturvedi was reportedly transporting goods to the Bagroda factory during the late hours.
 
In line with this information, the police team broke open the lock of the shop in the presence of landowner Vishnu Patidar. Upon inspection, a significant cache of chemicals was discovered, including: 1600 litres of Acetone, 1000 litres of Toluene 100 litres of HCl, 200 kg of Sodium Carbonate Powder, 240 litres of Solvent, 40 kg of Sodium Carb, 42 bottles of Bromine, 20 litres of various liquids, 50 kg of Methylamine Hydrochloride, 50 kg of Light Soda Ash, 10 kg of Crystal Granular Powder, 10 litres of other liquids. The godown was given on rent in July 2024. Police also registered case against godown owner Vishnu Patidar for hiding information from police. Notably, in a major drug bust on October 5, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi, along with Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) seized MD drugs and raw materials worth Rs 1,814 crore from a synthetic drug factory in the Bagroda Industrial Area, Katara Hills in Bhopal. Amit Chaturvedi a resident of Bhopal and Sanyal Prakash Bane from Nashik, Maharashtra are in police custody.
