Jalebi politics took center stage in State’s politics on Tuesday. Amid the initial lead in the counting in Haryana poll results, enthusiast Congressmen were seen making jalebis in Bhopal. Group of party workers were all set ready and started to fry jalebis in a big cauldron. Notably, during the campaign in Haryana Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi’s Jalebi statement was very popular. Results of J&K and Haryana Assembly polls were declared on Tuesday. Rahul Gandhi had said that Jalebi would be made in the factory. But as the counting of votes proceeded, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started taking over Congress beating Exit poll predictions and initial round of counting. That led to Congress workers in State disappointment and jalebi, made by them, disappeared swiftly. Taking a dig at the Congress, BJP said that this election was not about Congress party but about the failure of the Leader of Opposition. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav extended greetings to all the BJP leaders, officials and office-bearers of Haryana for the trends towards the victory. Significantly, BJP staged a surprising comeback in Haryana Assembly polls, overtaking Congress despite early leads. This led to a surge of ‘jalebi’ memes on social media.0
