Wanted drug dealer arrested with 18,000 narcotic injection ampoules worth Rs 11 lakh

In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch have apprehended a wanted drug dealer and seized 18,000 narcotic injection ampoules amounting to Rs 11 lakh from him. The arrested has been identified as Mahesh Vishwakarma alias Mahesh Sahu (39), a resident of Lalmati in Ghamapur area.
The accused was purchasing and transporting prohibited injections by using drug license of Shahnawaz who was earlier apprehended by Kotwali police.
Additional SP (Crime), Samar Verma, while addressing a press conference, on Saturday, informed that they received a tip-off that an absconding drug dealer Mahesh Vishwakarma was sighted hiding in abandoned quarters of Vehicle Factory Jabalpur.
Acting promptly on the information, a combined team of Crime Branch and Kotwali police, raided the identified spot and succeeded in apprehending the accused Mahesh Vishwakarma.
During search, police seized 9 cartons containing narcotic drug
Buprenorphine injections. Each carton contained labels indicating the ampoules were intended for illegal sale, with a total of 18,000 ampoules amounting to Rs 11 lakh. Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused under Section 8/21, 22 of NDPS Act and Section 5/13 of Madhya Pradesh Drug Control Act while further investigations are underway to identify the source of receiving the stock of prohibited drugs.
