On the occasion, the participating tea merchants discussed
various issues related to their
sector. Expressing his views,
Prashant Ahirkar said that India
is at the second position in the
world when it comes to production of tea. However, countries
like Sri Lanka and Kenya are
exporting more than the quantityIndiaisexporting.“Indian tea
merchants should take thismatter seriously and work hard to
improve their exports,” he said.
Anil Ahirkar said that the policymakersshouldbringdown the
current 5 per cent slab of Goods
and Services Tax on tea to 0 per
cent. A large number of members took part in the event.
