In an emotional and memorable address on the occasion of his retirement, Justice Vinay Joshi of the Bombay High Court expressed his deep gratitude towards the legal fraternity of Nagpur. The special Bar visit organised by the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) on November 12 marked a milestone in the career of Justice Joshi, who retired on November 13 after years of distinguished service. Justice Joshi, originally from Pune and educated in Kolhapur, shared his personal reflections with members of the Bar and acknowledged that despite not being originally from Nagpur, he had never felt like an outsider. He expressed that the warmth and support of the legal fraternity had always made him feel like an integral part of the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, where he had served for several years.

In his address, Justice Joshi underlined the key principles that guided his work on the Bench: fairness, impartiality, and the desire to build the confidence of the Bar. He recalled that throughout his tenure, he had been fortunate to receive invaluable assistance from both senior and junior advocates, whose well-reasoned arguments shaped many of the judgments he delivered. “All the judgments I have given are a reflection of the quality of arguments put forth by the lawyers,” Justice Joshi remarked. In his welcome speech, the President of the HCBA, Advocate Atul Pande, praised Justice Joshi for his remarkable legal acumen, humility, and the impact he had on the Bar. The event was attended by senior counsels and young advocates. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Advocate Amol Jaltare, Secretary, HCBA.
