The 46th All India Electricity Lawn Tennis Championship was officially inaugurated by the Managing Directors of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, SK Katiyar and Rajesh Kumar Shukla, who kicked off the event by playing on the tennis court.
During the opening ceremony, Chief Guest Katiyar emphasized that the teams representing power companies from nine states have come together to promote the message of unity and brotherhood.
The development of the lawn tennis court in the rural area of Chhachanpaari, near the capital, by APSEEM Academy, was also commended by Katiyar.
The event was presided over by Rajesh Kumar Shukla, Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company, who served as the function’s chairperson. Executive Directors JS Netam, SK Manothia, and MS Chauhan attended as special guests. Shukla wished all the teams success and encouraged them to perform to the best of their abilities.
In recognition of his achievements, Olympian Danish Mujtaba was felicitated during the ceremony. He is participating in the tournament as a sports officer and manager for Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited.
The first day of the championship saw several rounds of both team and singles events, with players showcasing strong performances.
Kerala emerged victorious in the match against Karnataka, while Chhattisgarh won its match against Kolkata. In the semi-finals, Kerala advanced to the final after defeating Chhattisgarh.
In other matches,
Assam triumphed over Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh secured a win against Telangana. The semi-final match between Assam and Uttar Pradesh will take place tomorrow.
