A shocking incident of rape has come to light in Bhopal, where a woman from Jabalpur has alleged that she was raped by her social media friend, Ajim Salim, a resident of Prayagraj, in a hotel in the city. The accused had promised to marry the victim soon, but later refused to do so, prompting her to file a complaint with the police. According to the police, the survivor, a resident of Jabalpur, had befriended Ajim Salim on social media in February this year. As their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship, the two families began discussing marriage. However, Ajim Salim allegedly took advantage of the situation and raped the victim in a hotel in Pushpa Nagar, Bhopal, under the pretext of taking her on a trip.

The victim alleged that Ajim Salim had promised to marry her soon, but instead, he continued to exploit her physically on multiple occasions. When she confronted him about his intentions, he refused to marry her, leading her to file a complaint with the police. The police have registered a case of rape against Ajim Salim and have begun investigating the matter. The victim’s complaint was initially registered at the Jabalpur police station, but the case was later transferred to the Aishbagh police station in Bhopal, where the alleged incident took place.

The incident highlights the growing concern of online harassment and exploitation, particularly against women. The police have urged citizens to be cautious when interacting with strangers online and to report any suspicious activities to prevent such incidents in the future. The police are currently investigating the matter and are working to apprehend the accused. The victim has been provided with counselling and support, and the police are ensuring that she receives the necessary assistance and protection. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying the authenticity of individuals online and being cautious when meeting strangers, especially in isolated locations. The police are urging citizens to prioritise their safety and security, and to report any incidents of online harassment or exploitation to the authorities immediately.
