Correspondent Kailash Makwana has been named as the new DGP of the State. Out of three names in the panel; Kailash Makwana was the frontrunner for the post. He is currently Chairman of MP Police Housing Corporation. He will take over as the new DGP of the state on December 1. An order issued late on Saturday night stated that Kailash Makwana will replace incumbent DGP Sudhir Saxena, who is set to retire on November 30. The Madhya Pradesh Government has appointed 1988 batch IPS Officer Kailash Makwana as the State’s next Director General of Police (DGP). He has served as Director General (DG) of Lokayukta’s Special Police Establishment (SPE) and later appointed as the Chairman of MP Police Housing Corporation in 2022. Makwana’s professional journey marked by frequent transfers, experiencing seven postings in just 3.5 years.

During Kamal Nath’s tenure as Chief Minister, he faced three transfers in a single year. Putting all odds aside, his candidature was being seen as strong contender for DGP’s role. Reports suggest that Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav awarded him a perfect score of 10 in his ACR, consolidating his candidacy for the DGP position. Makwana’s qualifications and extensive experience make him a strong candidate. Appointed as an IPS officer on August 30, 1988, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree and an MTech from the prestigious IIT. Known for his sharp acumen, he has served in various high-profile positions throughout his career.
