Prohibited drugs worth Rs 7.5 lakh seized
In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch and Lordganj police have arrested two accused involved in the illegal trade of banned pharmaceutical drugs and seized huge quantity of prohibited injections used for addiction amounting to Rs 7.5 lakh.
The arrested have been identified as Vicky Chaudhary (30), a resident of Sarkari Kuwan, Maharana Pratap Chowk and Vinod Kumar Kori (38), a resident of Sheetala Mai Mandirin Ghamapur.
According to Lordganj police, acting on a tip-off, combine team of Crime Branch and Lordganj police led by Additional SP (City) Anand Kaladgi (IPS), Additional SP (Crime) Shri Samar Verma and CSP, Reetesh Kumar raided the identified spot in Niramanagar area. In the raid, police nabbed Vicky Chaudhary and Vinod Kori who were found with a large quantity of banned drugs.
Police team seized stock of prohibited drugs including Aprazolam, Nitrozepam, Ohmerex T (Codeine Phosphate Triprolitidine Syrup) and Proxihns Spas (containing Dicyclomine Hydrochloride, Tramadol Hydrochloride, Acetaminophen).
It was found that the molecules found in seized drugs are banned under Indian drug Control Laws, were being illegally stored and sold. The seized drugs included 3094 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup valued at Rs 5.53 lakh, Aprazolam tablets (48,000 units) worth Rs 98,000, Nitrozepam (1280 tablets) valued at Rs 6,000 and Proxihns Spas (120 packets) worth Rs 1.06 lakh.
The arrested persons are suspected of distributing these banned drugs through
local networks, with Vinod Kumar Kori acting as the supplier and Vicky Chaudhary serving as the distributor.
Lordganj police have registered a case Sections 5/13 of the Drug Control Act and 8/21 and 22 of NDPS Act while police are investigating the case to identify the source of receiving prohibited drugs and other persons working in the network.
