The Crime Branch of the City Police has caught a gang of thieves who were stealing only Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta cars. The thieves were using special gadgets to change the key software of the cars. These gadgets are so advanced that only people who work with the company could use them. The police found out about the gang after catching four people who worked together and stole cars in different locations like Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Maharashtra.

The arrested accused are: Shahid Iqbal, also called Chintu Abdul Latif (39), from Ansar Nagar, Mominpura; Saurabh Ashokrao Ahirwar (36), from Gadikhana; Ajitsingh Ingo Laishram (38), a car driver Bojendrasingh Shurchandra-singh Laishram (27), both from Mayai Likayi Committee Hall, Imphal, Manipur. The police have solved six cases of stolen cars in Delhi and Nagpur. They also found 11 stolen SUVs worth Rs 1.5 crore. This was shared by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, at a press conference on Tuesday. He explained that many Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta cars were stolen from Nagpur in the last few months. The police have registered eight cases of car theft. The thieves were changing the car keys by using special gadgets to change the software inside the car. Sources say that to change the key, the thieves needed special software and an One Time Password (OTP) from the company.

The OTP is only sent after the company’s software is accessed by these gadgets. The police believe that someone working with the company might be helping the thieves or the gang may have stolen the gadgets. The police are working hard to solve this mystery. Under the guidance of DCP Detection Rahul Maknikar, ACP Crime Abhijeet Patil, the arrest was made by PI Suhas Choudhary, API Sachin Bhonde, PSI Anil Ingole, PSI Zingare, and staff including Deepak Rithe, Vilas Kokate, Ajay Shukla, Panjak Hedau, Shabhu Singh, Rahul Kusrame, Abhay Dhone, Nitin Wasnik, Sunit Gujar, Swapnil Khodke and others.

Seltos, Creta sold for Rs 2.50 lakh each

The leader of this gang is Shahid from Delhi. He runs a group of thieves who steal SUVs from all over India and sell them in Manipur and Nagaland at just Rs 2.5 lakh. Drivers from Manipur help to deliver the stolen cars. The drivers are even sent by airplane to different places, including Nagpur to pick up the vehicle. Once the cars are stolen, their number plates and documents are changed to make them look like they belong to another state. This helps the thieves take the cars to Manipur easily. The investigation also revealed that the thieves used special tricks to change the car’s FASTag number to one with a low balance and registered in someone else’s name. This helped them avoid detection while taking the stolen SUVs.
