A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Collector Deepak Saxena at Agriculture Produce Market Committee Hall for establishment of new peas market in Auriya, on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by MLA Ajay Bishnoi, Sushil Tiwari, SP, Sampat Upadhyay, Additional Collector Misha Singh, SDM Abhishek Singh, representatives of trader and farmer associations and other concerned officials. During the meeting, issues related to the market were discussed and everyone unanimously agreed to set up new pea market in Auriya. It was also decided that the purchase of peas would begin from November 30 at the new market. While listening to the concerns of traders and farmer association representatives, MLA Ajay Bishnoi stated that the new market in Auriya would not only be for peas but would also serve as a market for fruits and vegetables. Currently, 17 acres of land have been identified for the market, and an additional 120 acres have been located for its expansion.

The new market will soon be organized and properly developed. He further emphasized that the number of shops in the market currently exceeds the number of traders, and the progress and reputation of the market depend on the traders’ conduct. He urged all traders to cooperate in the development of the market and said relocating the market would help reduce traffic congestion in the city. Representatives of the farmer associations also expressed their support for the new pea market. During the meeting, some traders raised concerns regarding security and facilities in the new market. In response, Collector Saxena assured that the market would be developed into a “smart market” and that any immediate issues related to pea trading would be addressed promptly.

He confirmed that all preparations had been made to resolve potential difficulties in the new market and that the safety and comfort of farmers and traders would be prioritized. He made it clear that, effective from November 30, no pea trucks would be allowed in the existing agriculture produce market. The purchase of peas would commence exclusively at the new market, and he instructed the concerned officials to resolve any issues related to the new market promptly. He also informed the traders that permanent shop allocations in the new market could not be made immediately and temporary allocations would be made on a first-come, first-served basis. During the meeting, the Market Secretary also provided detailed information about the arrangements in the new market.
