Sparsh Kawale defeated city-mate Sanidhya Khandare to storm into the semi-final of the men’s singles of Yonex-Sunrise Achievers Cup Vidarbha-Level Badminton Tournament organised by Achievers Badminton Academy and Nagpur District badminton Association, on Thursday.
In the exciting quarter-finals Kawale got the better of Khandare 21-10, 21-14.
In boys Under-17 category, Nagpur’s Harshit Nerkar ousted Adarsh Panjwani of Akola 21-14, 21-11 to make it to the last four of the competition.
In girls’ Under-13 singles quarter-finals, Jamila Bombaywala of Yavatmal walked into the semis after top seed Nagpur’s Sanvi Ghate gave walkover.
Third seed city’s Ishita Barapatre defeated Aaraddhya Sahare, also of Nagpur, 26-24, 21-12 to book semis berth along with Nagpur’s Sanvi Manapure, who beat city-mate Aradhya Gupta 21-14, 22-20 and Anudhya Satpute who ousted Advaiya Sathe 21-5, 21-12.
