City’s Sairaj Nayse and Arav Thakre made it to the main draw of the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U-15 & 17) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2024 under way at Jaipur, Rajasthan. While Nayse booked main draw berth in Under-15 and Under-17 doubles, Arav made it in the singles event of Under-15 age category. In the Under-15 doubles Sairaj, partnering with Satya Chouhan (Mumbai) trounced Kerala pair of Gowtham Krishna AJ and Aaron Aby 15-10, 15-6 in the fourth round. In the U-17 doubles final qualifying round, Sairaj-Satya shocked the 13th seeds O Aditya and Ishan Nandal of Punjab 15-11, 15-13 in straight games. Sairaj trains under TS Bisht and Kunal Dasarwar, while Satya is a trainee of Uday Pawar Badminton Academy, Mumbai. Arav defeated Niketan Hari ND 15-9, 9-15, 15-11 in a hard-fought battle. Arav trains under Ajay Dayal at Doshi and Dayal Academy. He thanked Arun Lakhani, Mangesh Kashhikar and Satish Doshi for their support.
