Shreyas Bahadure and Munira Wardhawala brought laurel to the city and state by winning medals at the Sivus India Open Swimming Nationals held at Chennai recently. The tournament was conducted for the person with an Intellectual Impairment, Down Syndrome and Autism.
Representing Maharashtra in the above 18 Intellectual Impairment-2 category, both Shreyas and Munira won a gold and a silver each.
In the boys category, Bahadure won gold in 100m breaststroke with the timing of 2:25.20 secs and silver in 100m freestyle in 2:05.90 secs.
Participating in above 18 category, Munira Wardhawala won gold in 400 freestyle (15:01.34 secs) and silver in 100m freestyle (3:22.33 secs.).
Shreyas and Munira are the regular members of Aqua Sports Club practicing at NIT swimming pool.
Aqua Sports Club President Mohan Nahatkar, Secretary Mangesh Gadre, Director of Midland Sports Prashant Ugemuge, coach Dr Pravin Lamkhade, Vishal Chandurkar and others congratulated both the swimmers for their success and wish them luck.
