In a bid to improve the health and well-being of those staying at night shelters in the city, the District Health Department of Bhopal, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, has launched a series of health camps at all night shelters across Bhopal. The first of these camps commenced at the Shahjahan Park Night Shelter, and will run every evening from 7 pm until late at night. These health camps have been specifically designed to cater to the needs of the individuals residing in the night shelters. The health camps will provide a variety of services, including screenings for non-communicable diseases, skin conditions, and issuance of Ayushman cards and Aadhar IDs. Additionally, the camps will also address mental health concerns, offering consultations and assessments for individuals facing psychological issues.

Dr Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, stated that these health camps began on December 10 and will continue across the city’s various night shelters. The camps aim to offer essential health services and improve the quality of life for shelter residents. The initiative is being organized with the cooperation of several departments, including the Social Justice Department, Food and Civil Supplies Department, and the Women and Child Development Department, in coordination with the district administration and BMC.

This initiative follows a similar campaign in May, when the Health Department had conducted night-time health camps at various night shelters. The previous camps saw a large number of beneficiaries receiving essential health services, further highlighting the importance of such outreach programs. The health camps will be held at multiple night shelters across Bhopal, including the Shahjahan Park shelter, ISBT shelter, Halalpur Bus Stand shelter, Cancer Hospital campus shelter, the Hamidia Hospital shelter, Nehru Nagar shelter, DIG Bungalow near Municipal Corporation office, TB Hospital at Eidhgah Hills, Railway Station Platform No. 6 shelter, Transport Nagar Kokta shelter, and the MP Nagar Zone 2 shelter.
