Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, during the bhoomipujan ceremony of the Freeganj Railway Over Bridge (RoB), reaffirmed the state government's commitment to the development of Ujjain and the overall state. He emphasised that the ongoing development works in Ujjain, especially around the revered Baba Shri Mahakal temple, will enhance the honor of not just the city but the entire country.
Dr Yadav highlighted that over one crore saints, mahants, and devotees from across India and abroad visited Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar during the Sawan month of 2024. To accommodate this large number of devotees, extensive infrastructure and development projects are underway in Ujjain to ensure their comfort and convenience.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister announced that public programs under the "Mukhya Mantri Jankalyan Abhiyan" will be held from December 11 to December 26, 2024, where citizens and beneficiaries will receive various government benefits.
The programmes will extend from Gita Jayanti to January 26, 2025. He also emphasised that through the initiative ‘Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar,’ citizens will have direct access to Government
services like Ayushman Card, Property Tax, Building Permits, Aadhaar Cards, and over 76 other welfare schemes.
Dr Yadav also highlighted the significance of Gita Jayanti in the State, linking it with devotion, knowledge, and yoga. He further praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for realising the vision of Ramrajya, which is now being actualised through various initiatives.
Regarding the new Freeganj Railway Over Bridge, the Chief Minister inspected the proposed layout and performed the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the construction of this crucial infrastructure. The bridge, costing Rs 91.76 crore, will connect Freeganj to the Chamunda intersection.
With a width of 21.40 meters and a length of 633 meters, the bridge will facilitate smooth traffic flow and pedestrian movement, ensuring better connectivity for the residents of Ujjain. Additionally, Freeganj and its surrounding areas will be developed into a major business and cultural hub.
The Freeganj Railway Over Bridge is expected to be a key development project for Ujjain, particularly for the upcoming Simhastha 2028 event. The bridge will include wide carriageways, footpaths, and dividers to accommodate both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
In his address, Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for his significant contributions, including a generous Rs 128 crore donation to Geeta Bhawan. The event was also attended by MLA Anil Jain Kaluhera, Municipal Corporation Chairman Kalavati Yadav, former Union Minister Satyanarayan Jatia, Sanjay Aggarwal, and several local officers and representatives.
