Unprecedented rise in number of devotees in Avantika city in Shravan-Bhadon month according to the Ujjain administration. Over One Crore Saints, Mahatmas, and Devotees Visited Trinetradhari Avantikanath Shri Mahakal During Saavan month.
From July 22 to August 19, 2024, more than one crore devotees came to Ujjain to seek the blessings of Lord Shri Mahakal, visit the Shri Mahakal Mahalok, and participate in the grand processions.The growing influx of devotees has elevated Ujjain as a key tourist, economic, and social hub of the Malwa region.
The increase in business activity has provided multifaceted employment opportunities to the citizens, further boosting the city’s development and prosperity.
Ujjaini is a great religious, cultural, literary, mythological and historical city. Situated at the center of the Earth, it is a crucial point for Yogis and spiritualists having knowledge of Kundalini Shakti awakening.
Citing reason behind this upward trend of pilgrims, Chief Minister Dr Yadav said after the construction of Shri Mahakal Lok, there is surge in number of pilgrims.

city, is the center point of the lifestyle of Ujjain. Since the construction of Shri Mahakal Mahalok in Avantikanath Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, more and more devotees are arriving from India and abroad and the number of devotees is on the rise.
As per the vision of Chief Minister Dr Yadav, the sawaris and the royal Rajsi Sawari of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar during the months of Shravan and Bhadon captured the attention of the entire nation. Over one crore devotees from India and abroad visited Ujjain in the single month of Shravan to witness the grandeur and divine splendor of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar.
This year, under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr Yadav, several attractions enhanced the sawari celebrations. Highlights included vibrant folk dance performances by artists from various tribal groups across the country, the melodious tunes of the police band along the procession route, a world record-breaking Damru Vadan, and a spectacular flower shower from a helicopter as the palanquin reached Ramghat.
In line with Chief Minister Dr Yadav's vision to restore Avantika city to its former glory from the era of Samrat Vikramaditya, Ujjain has hosted a series of events, seminars, symposiums, and festivals throughout the year.
These initiatives have established Ujjain as a hub for saints, scholars, thinkers, litterateurs, and researchers from across India.
On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri and Gudi Padwa, a grand programme titled Shivjyoti Arpanam was organised, featuring a ceremonial Deepdaan at Ramghat on the sacred banks of the Kshipra River, adding to the city’s cultural and spiritual grandeur. Various cultural, literary, religious and science programmes were organised under Vikramotsav and All India Kalidas Mahotsav. Great personalities from India and abroad attended these programmes and Ujjain remained the center of litterateurs, thinkers and scientists throughout the year.
