PM Modi to perform bhoomipujan of Ken-Betwa river linking project on Dec 25, confirms CM

Highlighting his one year’s achievements, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, who had taken oath on December 13 as the 19th Chief Minister of the State in 2023, said several major but delayed projects got momentum in the last eleven months. Prominent among those were Hukumchand mill, Providing Kshipra river water to devotees, removal of BRTS and river linking projects. Top most among these halted projects was Ken-Betwa river linking project. “But now all the hurdles have been resolved. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed to visit Madhya Pradesh on December 25, on the 100th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, for the bhoomipujan of the Ken-Betwa river linking project in Chhatarpur,” Cheif Minister Dr Mohan Yadav informed mediapersons at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre in Bhopal, on Thursday.
 
While intereacting with media in Bhopal on Thursday Chief Minister Dr Yadav lauded former PM, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, for envisioning river connectivity and said that MP and UP are working on the ambitious Ken-Betwa river linking project. “The project will benefit Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Niwadi, Damoh, Shivpuri, Datia, Raisen, Vidisha and Sagar districts of the State. It will provide water for irrigation in 10.62 lakh hectares in the Bundelkhand region, spread across Madhya Pradesh (8.11 lakh hectares) and Uttar Pradesh (2.51 lakh hectares), besides supplying drinking water to 41 lakh population in MP and 21 lakh in UP,” he said. “The State Government has also decided to implement the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project which will benefit Guna, Shivpuri, Sehore, Dewas, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Agar-Malwa, Indore, Shajapur, Mandsaur and Morena districts of the State,” said Dr Yadav. This project will provide water for irrigation in 6.13 lakh hectares in MP and PM Modi will lay its foundation stone on December 17 in Jaipur, Dr Yadav added. The State Government is working on four missions - youth power, welfare of poor, farmers’ welfare, and women empowerment - to ensure the holistic development of the State as per the wish and direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
Dr Yadav said, the State will observe 2025 as the ‘Industries Year’ and PM Modi will inaugurate the Global Investors Summit, which will be held in Bhopal on February 24-25. The Chief Minister added that the State Government plans to provide about 2.50 lakh Government jobs in the next five years, with approximately one lakh recruitments already underway. He said that more than 36 lakh pucca houses have been provided to the poor in rural areas under the PM Awas Yojana, while over eight lakh such houses have been built in the urban areas of the State. He said the Government has paid a total of Rs 1,92,122 crore to 1.29 crore Ladli Bahna beneficiaries, as part of the regular monthly payments under the Ladli Bahna Yojana. The CM informed that investment proposals worth more than Rs 4 lakh crore have been received through various regional investor summits. Ujjain has emerged as prominent centre of religious tourism. ‘Shri Krishna Pathey’ by connecting all places associated with Lord Krishna, including Sandipani Ashram, Narayana village, Ujjain, Janapav (Indore) and Amjhera (Dhar) will be developed. He also underlined how people are getting benefit during golden hour by availing Air Ambulance facility. On dais he was acompanied with Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devera, Principal Secretary, Public Relation Department, Dr Sudam Khade, State BJP President V D Sharma and State BJP Media -Incharge Ashish Agrawal.
