Top seed pair of Prisha Patil and Vritika Shah breezed past Vaanya Agarwal and Surmayee Sathe 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the girls doubles title in the ongoing AITA Under-14 Tennis Tournament organised by Nagpur District Hardcourt Tennis Association at its Ram Nagar courts on Thursday.
In the boys singles final, top seed Nagpur’s Heramba Pohane will lock horns with city-mate and third seed Dhruv Mor on Friday.
In the semis, in-form Pohane defeated fourth seed Pranav Gaikwad also of Nagpur 6-2, 6-3 while Mor got the better of Avi Misra 6-2, 6-2.
In girls singles top, seed Prisha Patil from Mumbai had to battle it out to overcome the challenge from Nagpur’s eighth
seed Surmayee Sathe in a thrilling three set tie-breaker 1-6, 7-6(8), 7-5. In the other semis seventh seed Mumbai’s Vrutika Shah beat Hydrebad’s Samaira Jain 6-1, 6-0.
In the boys doubles final, top seed Heramba and Avi (Nagpur & Mumbai) will face-off with Dhruv Mor and Pranav Gaikwad (Nagpur).
Ashok Bhiwapurkar, Vice-President NDHTA, Vikram Naidu Joint Secretary NDHTA and Subodh Sathe distributed the trophies to the girls doubles finalists.
