Third seed Dhruv Mor stunned top seed Heramba Pohane in three sets to clinch the boys singles title as it was curtains on the MSLTA-NDHTA All India Ranking Championship Series (CS7) Tennis tournament at Ram
Nagar Tennis Courts on Friday.
The final battle consumed every bit of energy the two players had.
Both matched each other in shots mostly from the baseline but more than tennis, it was a battle of wits and mental strength in which Mor emerged champion.
In the boys doubles, Mor and Pranav Gaikwad pair was not as lucky as the pair of Heramba Pohane and Avi Misra joined ranks to overcome the challenge in a nail-biting thriller that went down to the wire.
In the girls singles final, it was an victory for Mumbai’s seventh seed Vritika Shah over her doubles partner top seed Prisha Patil.
NDHTA Secretary, Sudhir Bhiwapurkar, VP, Ashok Bhiwapurkar, treasurer Vijay Naidu, joint secretary Vikram Naidu gave away the prizes and the certificates.
Results: FINALS: Boys singles: Dhruv Mor (S3) bt Heramba Pohane (S1) 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
Boys doubles: Heramba Pohane-Avi Misra (S1) beat Dhruv Mor-Pranav Gaikwad (S2) 4-6, 6-2, (13-11).
Girls singles: Vritika Shah (S7) bt Prisha Patil (S1) 6-3, 6-3.
