Amidst biting cold conditions, the Municipal Corporation has ramped up efforts to provide warmth and shelter to the poor and helpless citizens arriving from various places. Extensive arrangements have been made in shelters across the city to ensure no one suffers due to the plummeting temperatures, said a statement. The Corporation staff, said the statement, is diligently working to persuade those spending the night on roads, footpaths, and open spaces to move to community shelters. Officers and employees are patrolling their respective zones, identifying individuals in need, and guiding them to nearby shelters as the commissioner Harendra Narayan has kept a strict vigil. Fifteen permanent and temporary shelters have been set up in different parts of the city.

These shelters are equipped with cots, bedding, blankets, electric heaters, drinking water, and toilets, ensuring a comfortable stay for the occupants, said the statement. With the severe cold showing no signs of abating, the corporation staff has intensified their night patrols, advising and transporting citizens to shelters. Efforts saw many being taken from VIP Road, Bairagarh Road, Bus Stand, Railway Station, and other routes to nearby shelters.
