ANIKET Pande hit a classy half century as Vidarbha recorded their second successive win in the U-23 Men’s State ‘A’ One-Day Trophy when they defeated Tripura by 48 runs in a Group A league match at the Darshanam Sports and Education Academy ground in Vadodara on Tuesday.
Following their 4-wicket win over Pondicherry on Sunday, Vidarbha batters looked a confident lot and amassed 350-5 in 50 overs after winning the toss.
Openers Shivam Deshmukh (48) and Pande (85) added 101 runs for the opening wicket in 118 balls to set the tone of the innings. Skipper Mohd Faiz contributed a 56-ball 73, while Harsh Dubey smacked six sixes and five boundaries in a power-packed, unbeaten knock of 68 off only 24 balls.
Tripura got off to an aggressive start in their chase as Tanmoy Das (56) and Hrituraj Ghosh Roy (49) added 108 for the opening wicket.
However, they could not sustain the momentum in spite of a fighting 82 by Anandh Bhowmik (82).
For Vidarbha, Harsh Dubey (2-33) and Varun Bisht (2-21) were the best operators with the ball.
