An agent created ruckus at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Nagpur Rural and allegedly issued death threats to on-duty officials after his candidate failed in driving test. Kapil Nagar Police have registered a case for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties and issuing threats.
The accused is Javed Khan Chhote Khan Pathan, a resident of Rathod Layout, Katol Road.
Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI) Rahul Bapurao Dhakate, attached to RTO Nagpur Rural, stated in his complaint that Javed Khan works as an RTO agent at the premises and also owns Zara Driving School.
Khan has allegedly been stamping driving license forms with the seal of his driving school. Dhakate further alleged that Khan used to pressure RTO officials to pass candidates who failed the driving test. While the driving school is officially registered under his wife’s name, Khan reportedly used her as a cover to pressurise the officials to comply with his demands.
On Tuesday, one of Khan’s candidates appeared for a driving test and failed. Angry over the failure of the candidate, Khan arrived at the office of AMVI Dhakate around 4.30 pm, accompanied by three to four accomplices and confronted Dhakate. When Dhakate did not respond, Khan allegedly abused him and threatened to have him dismissed from his position. Khan also threatened to disrupt the driving tests and threw documents off the table.
Soon after, Khan proceeded to the cabin of ARTO Hitesh Dawda, where he continued to abuse the official and issued death threats.
Based on Dhakate’s complaint, Kapil Nagar police have filed a case under Sections 132, 296 ,
and 351 (3) (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duties) of the BNS.
