Ansar Club, Kamptee jumped to third spot in points table and brightened their chances of making it to the Super Four of the ongoing JSW-NDFA Elite Division League Championship being played at Dr Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar.
In their penultimate round match, Ansar blanked last year’s runners-up Rahul Club by three goals to nil.
It was a must-win game for Ansar Club and the players responded brilliantly.
Mohammad Sohail Ansari scored a goal each in either side of half as Ansar dominated the game throughout.
Sohrab Akhtar scored the third goal for his side.
Ansari put the Kamptee-based club ahead in the 18th minute of play as Ansar changed ends with a lead of solitary goal.
Six minutes after resumption, Ansari was again on the target scoring the second goal.
Sohrab Akhtar then stretched the lead beyond Rahul’s reach bulging the net on the hour mark.
With 14 points in their kitty, Ansar Club have nearly secured the Super Four berth.
Indian Friends Football Club who have one important game remaining against Nagpur Blues can also make it to the Super Four League if they win their match. Nagpur Blues, on the other hand, still fancy their chances but they will have to win both of their remaining matches to take their points tally to 14. They now have eight points.
Defending champions Rabbani Club, Kamptee and multiple times winner Young Muslim Football Club are topping the table with 19 and 17 points respectively and have confirmed their berths for Super Four League.
