Swimmers Prakash Bhargav

AN ADVENTURE sea swimming expedition was organised by the National Institute of Swimming. A team of Additional Police Director General Krishna Prakash, international sea swimmer Jayant Duble, Bhargav Mokadam, and Shravani Garje took part in the expedition that achieved a new milestone by swimming 22 kilometres from Raj Bhavan to Juhu Beach, Mumbai in 5 hours and 57 minutes. The expedition began on Sunday at 7:48 am with Duble diving into the Arabian Sea near Raj Bhavan. After enduring challenging conditions, including the constant movement of ships due to the ongoing Coastal Road construction, the team successfully completed the swim and reached Juhu Beach at 1:45 pm. Along the way, the swimmers were encouraged by the sight of dolphins and seagulls. A notable achievement of this campaign was that three of the swimmers had no prior experience with coastal environments, yet they successfully completed the journey. The mission was aimed to raise awareness about ‘Drowning Prevention’ and the importance of ‘Behavioral Cleanliness - Sanitation Cleanliness’.

Dr Jaiprakash Duble, an international sea swimming coach, had meticulously planned and trained the team six months in advance for this expedition. Observers from the Maharashtra Swimming Association Sushil Durgkar and Arun Bute, were present on the boat to monitor the event. Upon completing the swim at Juhu Beach, former Chief Fire Officer of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Chandrashekhar Jadhav, and senior officers from the Mumbai Police Department congratulated the team. The technical management of the entire campaign was handled by Dr Aishwarya Duble and Prajakta Duble. On the boat, along with coach Dr Duble, Bhargav’s father Vedprakash Mokadam, and Vivek Gadikar were also present. Swimming coach Dr Sambhaji Bhosale also congratulated the swimmers on their successful achievement.
