An old but disturbing video has surfaced, allegedly filmed in the Semaria police station area of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, raising serious questions about the law and order situation in the region. The video, which has gone viral, depicts a young couple in a compromising position under a rock, being harassed and extorted by two miscreants. One of the perpetrators is seen recording the incident while the other two frisking the couple, demanding money, and hurl abuses at them. The incident reportedly took place at Purva Waterfall, a popular tourist spot in the Semaria police station area.

The video, believed to be about a week old, shows the miscreants not only extorting money but also molesting the woman and preventing her from putting on clothes. Despite the couple’s desperate pleas and willingness to pay money, the harassment continued unabated. The Rewa Police have launched an investigation to identify both the victims and the perpetrators. Rewa Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the police are actively looking for the victims and appeal to them to come forward, their identities will be kept confidential, and the culprits will face stringent action. Police teams from various stations, including Semaria, Sirmour, Baikunthpur, and Garh, are working to gather information This incident follows a similar case in October, where a couple was attacked near a temple. The husband was tied to a tree while his wife was gang-raped. The assailants filmed the assault and threatened to release the video online if the victims approached the authorities. This incident is not isolated. Just two months ago, two Army officers were attacked, and one officer’s female friend was gang-raped near Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, the horrific gang-rape of 45 women over two years at Kajligarh Fort, a desolate tourist spot on the outskirts of Indore, still haunts the community. These incidents highlight a disturbing trend and underscore the urgent need for improved law enforcement and safety measures in the region.and trace those involved. Contd on page 2
