The historic celebration of the First World Meditation Day took place, uniting the United Nations General Assembly in New York and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Auditorium in Jabalpur in a remarkable confluence of meditation, devotion and spirituality.
At this event held in New York, Padma Vibhushan Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar emphasised the significance of meditation for global peace and harmony. He stated, “A peaceful mind creates a better environment for others. Meditation is a powerful tool to foster global peace and unity.” Under Gurudev’s guidance, millions experienced peace and bliss through meditation.
It was a moment of pride for India to witness an Indian spiritual leader addressing the United Nations General
Assembly, with the entire world listening to his message. Gurudev highlighted meditation as an effective solution for modern challenges such as anxiety, violence and stress.
This historic session was broadcast live at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Auditorium in Jabalpur, where participants deeply connected with
Gurudev’s words and the transformative power of meditation.
The programme in Jabalpur began with soulful renditions of bhajans like ‘Jai Guru Omkara’ and ‘Gurudev Guru Om’ by Art of Living vocalists Reena Mahobia and Aditya Tiwari. These bhajans infused the atmosphere with spiritual energy and devotion. Following this, the Peepal dance performance captivated the audience.
Students from Jabalpur’s
Art of Living Veda Pathshala elevated the program by reciting Vedic chants. Their innocence and energy conveyed a profound message of world peace.
This event was not just spiritual but also a monumental step in establishing India’s meditation heritage on the global stage. Gurudev’s mission of leading the world towards meditation and peace has already impacted over 800 million people across 182 countries.
The success of the event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Art of Living teachers Lalit Bakshi, Prabha Khandelwal, Naveen Barsaiya, Ritu Raj Asati, Sunila Pawar, Aruna Sareen, Sandeep Tiwari and other volunteers. Their unwavering service and commitment ensured its success.
