Anglo Indians welcome festive season with Christmas Ball

Santa spreads excitement with gifts for children 
 
The All-India Anglo Indian Association committee members organised their traditional Christmas Ball on Sunday at the Catholic Institute premises on Kamptee road. The room gathered all smiles and laughter as Santa opened his bag of colourful gifts and distributed it amongst the young ones. This followed an evening full of singing and dancing. Jukeplan; the live band gave the evening its festive glow. Jeffery Dais at the drums, Sanjay Ingle base guitarist, John D’souza, lead guitarist along with Antony, Ashley(lead vocalist) and Errol Besterwitch as vocalists. A number of tracks were orchestrated that was an amalgamation of country and rock songs of the 80s and 90s. Anthony Besterwitch said, “It gives me pleasure to witness that songs I heard as a child with my parents and grandparents continues to rock and roll the Catholic Institute halls even today, indeed music is timeless.”
 
Dressed in the beautiful colours of the season, ladies were draped in red, green dresses and males in crisp suits and blazers complimenting their better halves. They danced along with their partners on foxtrot, jive and cha cha numbers, leaving the band mates exhausted after their countless demands for yet another song. Chrishtopher Dee, the President of the All-Indian Anglo Indian Association, while speaking to ‘The Hitavada’ said, “We welcome the season, for the young and old alike. It gives me immense joy to see our culture and traditions flowing seamlessly between generations.” Other committee members include: Maj Gen (Retd) Glen Ford, Susan, James Lovacah, Anthony Besterwitch, Tina Jacob, Irene Jacob, Arthur Narcis, Donald Ford. Their collective effort brought out a wonderful evening.
