Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has said that “Sports are an inseparable part of education and the development of sports and athletes has always been a priority for the State Government. He assured that no effort will be spared to support athletes, addressing all their needs. The Government plans to collaborate with sports associations to create strategies for nurturing talent, enabling more athletes from the State to participate in national and international events.”
Chief Minister Dr Yadav was addressing the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association at Samatva Bhavan, Bhopal (Chief Minister’s Residence), Dr Yadav announced plans to co-ordinate with district Olympic associations to organise district-level Olympic Games. The selected athletes will then be encouraged to participate in State-level Olympic Games.
He directed the Sports Department to develop a comprehensive action plan based on suggestions from stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Vishwas Sarang, MP and Vice President of MP Olympic Association, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, MLA and State Vice President
Ramesh Mendola, General Secretary Digvijay Singh and other association members, office-bearers, and officials from the Sports Department.
CM Dr Yadav emphasised over organising district and state-level Olympic Games and said that they will provide a golden opportunity for rural talent to shine. He assured coordinated efforts across various departments, including higher education, school education, tribal welfare, medical education, and technical education, to promote sports and develop infrastructure for students with a keen interest in sports.
Sports Minister, Sarang highlighted the importance of developing sports, athletes, and playgrounds for building a better society. He mentioned that the government has worked with dedication in this field and will continue its efforts at the same pace. He also announced plans to organize ‘Khelo MP Games’ in collaboration with sports associations.
During the meeting, office-bearers presented a report on the association’s year-long activities, facilities provided to athletes, and sports initiatives. Vice President of State Olympic Association, Om Soni, expressed gratitude to all attendees.
