A reader of ‘The Hitavada’ has rightly pointed out his plight in his post ‘Vacant Plots- Pet lovers paradise’ in a issue of pet lovers allowing their dogs to relieve themselves on roads/ vacant plots in Besa. Similar is the situation in the so-called elite and educated Shivaji Nagar! Almost every dog owner in this locality, and there are plenty, owning high breed dogs, walk them several times a day on the roads of Shivaji Nagar for relieving right on the roads! Walking in the evening is a task on these roads as every few feet or so, you have dog poop.

 

Add to this, is the menace of cow dung from almost a dozen stray cows. Swachh Bharat and hygiene for these owners ends inside their homes only. I understand that there is a rule against this with a fine and the pet owners are supposed to clear the mess immediately but there is no system to take them to task. While I can only request the pet owners to show some responsibility, the authorities must adopt a system of strong deterrent action against such unhygienic and irresponsible behaviour by these citizens.
