The 500 MW Unit No 5 at Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station in Birsinghpur of MP Power Management Company has set a new record by achieving 200 consecutive days of power generation. This milestone surpasses previous record of 178 continuous days of power generation set by the unit in 2021-22 financial year.
Unit No. 5, which has been operating continuously since May 17 this year, achieved remarkable feat of 200 consecutive days of power generation. Besides this, the unit has achieved impressive performance in several key parameters. It registered Plant Availability Factor (PAF) of 98.09%, Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 93.75%, and an Auxiliary Consumption (APC) of just 5.81%.
The unit is still operating continuously, maintaining its excellent performance.
This unit was commissioned on August 27, 2008.
In previous financial year (2022-23), Unit No. 5 set a record by producing 3,927.6 million units of electricity and achieving a PLF of 89.7%. This was highest-ever electricity generation and PLF for the unit. It also recorded lowest-ever oil consumption rate of 0.24 millilitres per unit, setting a new benchmark for operational efficiency. Energy Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Neeraj Mandloi and MPPGCL, MD, Manjeet Singh, congratulated the engineers and staff of Unit No. 5 at Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Plant.
