In a shocking incident, a mother-daughter duo died after eating green leafy vegetables in village Ghudankhapa of Pandhurna district. As a precautionary measure, father and two sons were admitted and are undergoing treatment. Health of a family deteriorated after eating green leafy vegetables grown in jungle area. In the morning, five members of a family were admitted to a local civil hospital. During treatment, doctors declared the girl dead, while the woman was referred to Nagpur for treatment. The woman died before reaching Nagpur. Apart from this, treatment of father and two sons is going on in the civil hospital. Police have taken up the matter for investigation. According to the information received, Suryabhan Dhurve (45) of village Ghudankhapa had gone to sow cotton in the field with his family. While returning from the field, Suryabhan’s wife Naukita (40) had plucked green leaves from the boundary of the field and cooked vegetable from these leaves for dinner.

 

After having dinner, the family went to sleep. But at around 12.30 am, daughter Yogita’s (16) health suddenly deteriorated. Yogita started vomiting along with stomach ache. After which Naukita also started experiencing the same. The family somehow managed to pass the night. After which, with the help of relatives, both were admitted to the Civil Hospital on Friday morning. Where Yogita died during treatment. While Naukita was referred to Nagpur for intensive treatment. But Naukita also died before reaching Nagpur. Suryabhan and sons Avinash (13) and Ashish (11) had also eaten the same vegetable. As a precaution, the father-son duo has also been admitted to hospital and are being treated. Ashish Dhurve, son of Suryabhan who is admitted in the hospital, said that at night we had made green leafy vegetables at home. We all ate our food. Late at night, everyone started having stomach pain one by one. After this, everyone started vomiting. Due to which everyone’s health deteriorated.

 

Deceased Naukita’s brother Jairam Dhurve said that on Thursday all the family members had gone to work in the field. They brought wild leaves from the field and cooked vegetables at home. Everyone had dinner together at night. Due to which everyone’s condition has deteriorated. When I got the information in the morning, I went home and everyone’s health was bad. I brought everyone to hospital from home. ASI, Manish Banodia of Pandhurna Police Station said that daughter and her mother died after eating wild vegetables. Vegetables and roti were seized. These have been sent to lab for testing. Initial investigations revealed that they consumed wild vegetables. Action will be taken after investigation report comes.
