Kamal Nath vows to take revenge of LS defeat
This (the Lok Sabha) election is not a betrayal of Kamal Nath but of each person here. All members of our family were betrayed. This is the election of betrayal and you will have to take its revenge,” former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said.

Shukla Unlike Lok Sabha elections 2024, this time Pradesh Congress Committee President Jeetu Patwari carried out an aggressive campaign in Amarwara. During Lok Sabha elections, it seemed that it was Nath family versus BJP election. It is evident that both the Congress and the BJP are pulling out all stops for this by-election. Before the end of high-pitched campaign on Monday, most of the heavyweight leaders of BJP did campaign there. By-poll are scheduled on July 10. The result of the by-election will be announced on July 13.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav sought vote on regional as well as national issues. He took on Rahul Gandhi in a veiled attack saying “Congress leaders sitting in Delhi compared Hindu community with terrorists. Addressing a public gathering in Amarwara, the Chief Minister said that “Sadhu-Sanyasi gives blessings to the BJP because we respect them. Our culture is to respect priests like God and in return, we receive blessings from them. Congress leaders compare the Hindu community with terrorists, but their (Congress) plan to divide the people won’t be successful,” the Chief Minister said. Even though the Amarwara Assembly seat has long been a Congress’ stronghold, the BJP managed to win it in 2008, and the GGP in 2003.

An upbeat BJP is leaving no stone turned to win this by-elections. BJP has fielded Congress turncoat Kamlesh Shah. On other, hurt with humiliating defeat (not in sense of voting margin, breaching the Kamal Nath’s citadel) in Chhindwara in Lok Sabha elections, senior and seasoned leader Kamal Nath returned to campaigning last week, with emotional appeals to seek votes for Congress candidate Dheernsha Invati. The Congress has fielded a new face. The by-poll in Amarwara was necessitated after a three-term Congress MLA and an erstwhile confidant of Kamal Nath Kamlesh Shah switched to BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Vivek Bunty Sahu defeated Kamal Nath’s son, Nakul Nath, by over 1.13 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha election. Chhindwara known as Kamal Nath’s stronghold. Kamal Nath has represented Chhindwara nine times.
