A day after suspended IAS officer Ranu Sahu was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court till August 7 in connection to the coal levy scam case registered against her by the Directorate of Enforcement, the officer moved another bail application in the Special Court at Raipur seeking her release in the similar coal levy scam case registered by the State Economic Offences Investigation and Anti Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB). The hearing on her bail application was held in the Special Court of judge Nidhi Sharma Tiwari on Tuesday and the defense and prosecution reportedly concluded their submissions.

The Special Court has reserved order on the officer’s bail plea which is likely to be delivered on Wednesday. Meanwhile, another accused in ED’s coal levy scam case Deepesh Taunk on Tuesday furnished his bail given by the Supreme Court before a local court in Raipur along with submitting an affidavit. Even though the team from the SEOIACB kept waiting outside the Central Jail, Raipur to re-arrest Deepesh in the offence registered against him but Deepesh managed to fool the team members and escaped after being released. Notably, the SEOIACB had also moved an application in the court seeking 7 days custody of Deepesh for interrogation but soon after being released from jail, he managed to escape, confirmed reliable sources.
