Grimy condition of drains and nullahs is proving a blot in the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and pre-monsoon preparations at the heart centre of the city. Cleanliness arrangements have exposed the phoney tale of cleanliness drive of municipal authorities and public awareness in Civic Centre, Marhatal. Mounds of garbage at many places at the central market place become a common scene in the area. Grimy situation reveal the truth behind tall claims of municipal authority for pre-monsoon cleanliness of drains and nullah. Surprising is the fact that markets place situated opposite to the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation headquarters has no garbage bins and containers to dump waste while garbage heaps lying unpicked here and there.

 

Civic Centre Marhatal is the central market place and one of the low lying areas in the city where flood like situation developed in every monsoon. Even after knowing the fact, JMC authorities have failed in cleaning the chocked drains. Irony is the fact that, dumping garbage in drains is a routine practice of street vendors. JMC authorities several times removed these encroachments but the situation is standstill. These vendors are habitual of dumping the waste of their shops into drains which always leads to chocking of drains and water logging in the area.
