The screening camps were organised to carry out the health check-up of pregnant women at 70 health institutions of the district under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan on Tuesday. The details stated that more than 800 pregnant women were screened in the camps that are being organised on 9th and 25th of every month. The authorities have installed the facilities of 108 ambulances to provide pick and drop services to the pregnant women. According to the information, in the camps, women having symptoms like anaemia, pregnancy-induced hypertension, pregnancy-induced diabetes, previous delivery by operation are identified as high-risk pregnancies.

 

These women are provided special medical care and counselling services. Along with expert medical consultation, tests are done for haemoglobin, urine albumin, sugar, malaria, TB, hepatitis, oral glucose test, blood group, HIV, syphilis. Sonography and thyroid tests are also done as per medical consultation. As per the records, the chief Medical and Health officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari told that private practitioner are also extending services in these camps. He further stated that services at Civil Hospital Barsia and Bairagarh, Community Health Centre Gandhi Nagar are being provided by private sector Sonologist. “Under the camps, mental health counselling is also being given to pregnant women in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Gandhi Medical College, Jaiprakash District Hospital, Civil Hospital Dr Kailashnath Katju”, he said. Further, QR codes have also been installed in hospitals, which can be scanned to get information about serious symptoms of pregnancy.
